Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream (Chocolate Irish Stout Ice Cream)

Homemade Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream

This Homemade Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream can be easily made as shown & enjoyed for St. Patrick's Day or anytime you want a Chocolatey Ice Cream your Beer Mug will be jealous of!

Custard Prep Time 20 minutes
Pre-Chill Ice Cream Base Time 2 hours
Ice Cream Maker Processing Time 40 minutes
Total Time 3 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 4 Egg Yolks
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 3/4 Guinness Irish Stout (or Favorite Dark Beer of Choice)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla

Instructions

  1. Place Chocolate Chips into a Bowl with a Mesh Strainer on top & set aside.
  2. Warm the Milk, Sugar & Salt in a Saucepan over Medium Heat, stirring ingredients to help dissolve the Sugar.
  3. Whisk the Egg Yolks in a Bowl.
  4. Slowly pour the Warmed Milk Mixture into the Egg Yolks, whisking the entire time until all the Milk Mixture has been added the ingredients are all well combined, creating a Custard Mixture.
  5. Pour the Custard Mixture back into the Saucepan and heat over Medium Heat until the Custard Thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Pour the Prepared Custard Mixture through the Mesh Strainer into the Bowl of Chocolate Chips.
  7. Stir the Chocolate Chips until they are melted, and you have created a Chocolate Custard.
  8. Whisk the Heavy Cream, Guinness Irish Stout & Vanilla into the Chocolate Custard until incorporated.
  9. Place the Bowl of Prepared Guinness Chocolate Custard into a Bowl filled with Ice & Water (creating an Ice Bath for the warm Guinness Custard to cool down in). Stir until the Guinness Chocolate Custard is cool to touch, creating our Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream Base.
  10. Pour the Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream Base into a Casserole Dish with a cover and place in the Refrigerator for 2 hours - Overnight.
  11. When ready to Make your Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream, simply remove the Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream Base from the Refrigerator and pour into the Ice Cream Maker's Reservoir Bucket.
  12. Turn Ice Cream Maker On, Press [Timer] and continue to press [Timer] until 40 min remains. Press [Start] and the Ice Cream Maker will start Churning & Making the Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream (See Notes below if using a different Ice Cream Maker than mentioned in this Recipe). It usually takes about 40 min to create a Smooth & Creamy Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream!
  13. Once the Ice Cream Making Cycle has finished and the Ice Cream Maker beeps, flashing [00] on the screen. Remove the Ice Cream Maker's Reservoir Bucket and scoop the Guinness Chocolate Ice Cream into a Freezer Container and Place into the Freezer until ready to eat.
  14. Enjoy after a Tasty Corned Beef & Cabbage Meal or anytime you want a Bold Chocolate & Beer flavored Ice Cream to satisfy your Chocolate Craving!

Notes

  • If using a different style or brand ice cream maker, simply follow their instructions for pre-chilling the ice cream base, pre-freezing any components and the freeze processing time for creating your Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream in your Ice Cream Maker!
