Homemade Pastrami - Instant Pot Recipe
Homemade Pastrami is great on a Sandwich for Lunch! Follow along and see how we make this Classic Lunch Item in the Instant Pot (& Oven) using some Corned Beef Brisket!
Ingredients
1 Lb Pastrami Ingredients
- 1 Lb Corned Beef Brisket
- 1 Cup Water (For Instant Pot)
- 1 Tbl Liquid Smoke (Hickory Flavor)
- 2 tsp Coriander (Ground)
- 1 tsp Black Pepper (Ground)
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Brown Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/4 tsp Sage (Ground)
- 1/8 tsp Mustard Powder
3 Lb Pastrami Ingredients
- 3 Lb Corned Beef Brisket
- 1 Cup Water (For Instant Pot)
- 1 Tbl Liquid Smoke (Hickory Flavor)
- 2 Tbl Coriander (Ground)
- 1 Tbl Black Pepper (Ground)
- 1 Tbl Paprika
- 1 Tbl Brown Sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Sage (Ground)
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Powder
Instructions
- Remove Corned Beef Brisket from Package and Rinse under Cool Water to wash off Salty Brine. [Set Seasoning Packet aside for later use in other recipes]
- Add Water into Instant Pot Liner Pan, then place Trivet into Liner Pan as well.
- Next place the Corned Beef Brisket onto the Trivet in the Instant Pot, fat side up.
- Apply the Instant Pot Lid, turn Pressure Valve to [Sealing] and press [Pressure Cook or Manual] Button to set the Instant Pot to [High] Pressure and set the timer for 70 min.
- The Instant Pot will come up to pressure and cook the Corned Beef Brisket for 70 min. Once the cook time has finished, allow a Natural Release for 15 min.
- Once the Natural Release timer is finished, do a Quick Release by placing a Steam Diverter (if desired) to the Pressure Valve and turning it to [Vent] until all that Steam has released and the little Stem in back falls and is flush with the Instant Pot Lid.
- Remove Lid and place the Corned Beef Brisket into a dish and allow to rest 10 min. Discard the cooking liquid.
- Mix in a bowl, all of the dry ingredients above to create our Pastrami Seasoning Rub.
- Lightly dab the Corned Beef Brisket with a paper towel to remove any moisture. Then Dredge all sides of the Corned Beef Brisket with our prepared Pastrami Seasoning Rub. Coating all sides nicely.
- Wrap the Pastrami Seasoning Rub coated Corned Beef Brisket in Foil and place in a dish into the Refrigerator 12 hrs - 2 days (overnight works well).
- Remove Homemade Pastrami from the Refrigerator & let sit at room temperature @ 1 hr.
- Pre-Heat Oven to 275 Degrees.
- Bake the Homemade Pastrami, fat side down, in the Foil wrapping (opening the Foil and folding the edges up to create a basket shape around the Homemade Pastrami) and place the Foil directly on the oven rack. Place a Baking Pan on the rack below to help catch any drippings and for removing the cooked Homemade Pastrami later. Bake at 275 Degrees for 1 hr.
- Allow the Homemade Pastrami to rest @ 10 min before carefully carving into slices, to help keep that nice crust created while slow baking the Pastrami!
- Enjoy your Homemade Pastrami on some fresh Rye Bread or as desired for a Tasty Lunch!
