This Cream of Chicken Soup Recipe is quick to put together and only uses about 5 ingredients! Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup

Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup Recipe

This is a great recipe to have on hand for if you are in the middle of cooking dinner and realize you don't have any Cream of Chicken Soup or if you wanted to add some Delicious Homemade Flavor to your favorite Casserole or Baked Dish!

Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

Roux Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup (1 Stick) Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Flour

Cream Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Whole Milk
  • 1 Cup Chicken Broth or Stock

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Garlic Pepper (Kinder's The Blend works well for this)
  • Salt to Taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Roux Ingredients (Butter & Flour) in a Dutch Oven over medium high heat until golden brown and bubbly (this will help to get the raw flour flavor out) stirring frequently to prevent scorching.
  2. Stir in the Cream Ingredients (Milk & Chicken Broth or Stock) and bring to a simmer. Cook about 3 min until it thickens.
  3. Add Seasoning Ingredients (Garlic Pepper & Salt to taste), stir well and remove from heat.
  4. Enjoy!

Notes

  • This Recipe makes the equivalent of about 1 large can (22.6 oz) or 2 small cans (10.5 oz) of Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup.
  • Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup can store in the refrigerator for about a week.
  • This Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup may thicken as it sits or after it is chilled in the refrigerator. Simply mix in milk at the time of use to achieve the desired thickness for your casserole, baked dish or other recipe (much like you would for the store-bought condensed soups).


Keep this recipe for when you want to make a casserole, baked dish or any recipe that calls for Condensed Cream of Chicken. This Cream of Chicken Soup with some rice and a few other ingredients makes a quick & easy meal. Either way, it’s a simply delicious kitchen staple recipe!
