Homemade French Pear Cake

Homemade Pear Cake - French Pear Cake

This French Pear Cake combines fresh pears with a sweet rum cake batter. You end up with a moist & flavorful rustic cake that is packed with pears! Follow along and check out this sweet recipe using pears from our pear tree; you may just want to make this delicious cake for breakfast, brunch or dessert!

Prep Time 20 minutes
Bake Time 40 minutes
Total Time 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 3-4 Cups of Chopped Pears (Peeled & Cored)
  • Ball Fruit-Fresh Produce Protector Solution (Optional, for Pears to prevent browning while preparing them)
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2/3 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Butter (1 Stick - Cubed)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 Tbl Dark Rum (May substitute with Rum Extract)
  • Additional Sugar for topping cake before baking (@ 3 Tbl)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pears and place aside (Using Produce Protector solution if desired).
  2. In a small bowl, combine Flour, Baking Powder & Salt, mix together and set aside.
  3. To a KitchenAid Stand Mixer Bowl, add the Sugar & Butter. Mix with a paddle attachment until butter is creamed and to a fluffy consistency.
  4. Add the Eggs one at a time, mixing while adding. Then add the Vanilla & Rum (or Rum Extract) and mix together to combine into batter.
  5. Next add the Flour Mixture slowly to the batter while mixing, until combined.
  6. Fold in the Pears until well incorporated into the batter.
  7. Pour the French Pear Cake Batter into a greased cake pan.
  8. Bake at 350 Degrees for @ 40 min, until golden. Test doneness with a toothpick (if toothpick comes out clean when poked into the cake, it is done).
  9. Allow Cake to cool in pan on a cooling rack, then run a knife around the edge of the pan & place cake onto a serving platter or Cake Stand.
  10. Serve Warm or Cool. Sprinkle with Powdered Sugar or serve with Whipped Cream if desired & enjoy!

Notes

You can use apples or plums as well for another twist on this cake!


This rustic French Pear Cake would be wonderful for Breakfast, Brunch or dessert. With big pieces of pear in a moist rum cake, you should Give this recipe a try!
