Homemade Wonton Wrappers Recipe

These Homemade Wonton Wrappers are wonderful for your next Crispy Crab Rangoon, Steamed Dumpling or Wonton Soup. Don't forget about adding a little garnish of Crunchy Wonton Strips on your next Salad or Deconstructed Egg Roll Dish as well!

Mix/Knead Time 5 minutes
Rest Time 45 minutes
Rolling Out to Wonton Wrapper Time 10 minutes
Total Time 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Flour (All Purpose)
  • 1/2 - 3/4 Cup Water (Warm)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a Stand Mixer Mixing Bowl (with Hook Attachment)
  2. Mix on Low until Water is incorporated. Then increase speed to Medium & Knead @ 2 min until all the flour is mixed in and a Rough & Shaggy dough ball is formed.
  3. Turn out the Wonton Wrapper Dough onto a surface that is lightly dusted with Flour and knead until a smoother dough ball results.
  4. Cover the Wonton Wrapper Dough Ball with a Damp Towel & let rest @ 45 min.
  5. Roll the Wonton Wrapper Dough into a long rope shape and cut into desired portions for the size wrapper you would like.
  6. Taking one portion of dough at a time, keep the remainder of dough covered with a damp towel, and roll out to desired size and thickness (a very thin, somewhat translucent wrapper works well!).
  7. Once rolled to desired Homemade Wonton Wrapper size & shape, place them into a container with a lid (Tortilla Keeper or Pyrex Covered Bowl works well) or a bowl with a damp towel on top until ready to fill or use in a recipe. (*see Notes below)
  8. Enjoy your Homemade Wonton Wrappers stuffed with your favorite sweet or savory filling or cut into strips for Wonton Strips in your Soups or Salads!

Notes

  • Sprinkle the Wonton Wrappers with Corn Starch to prevent sticking to one another while rolling out & stacking prior to use or before storing.
  • Homemade Wonton Wrappers store wonderfully in the Freezer. Simply sprinkle with Corn Starch as above, or place parchment paper between layers, place in a double layer of Zip Top Bags or wrap first in Cling Wrap then place into a Zip Top Bag or Freezer Safe Airtight container. Fulling thaw before use when ready to make your next Wonton Creation!

These Homemade Wonton Wrappers store nicely in the Refrigerator in a Tortilla Keeper or Covered Pyrex Dish until ready to cook within a few days. They also can be Frozen, once wrapped in Cling Wrap & then placed in a Zip Top Bag, Vacuum Sealed Pouch or Airtight Container for later use in recipes!

Remember to sprinkle Corn Starch on the prepared Homemade Wonton Wrappers prior to stacking or storing so they don’t stick together! πŸ™‚
