Homemade Sloppy Joe Mix
Meaty, messy and better than your Lunch Lady can make, this Homemade Sloppy Joe Mix recipe will become a staple in your spice cabinet. When you combine some common spices and store this mix in an airtight container, you’ll never want to buy those pre-made packets at the store again! This meal is easy to whip up with some ground beef (or chicken/turkey) on the stove or on sauté mode in your Instant Pot, then let sit on keep warm until ready to eat. Busy weeknight, family gathering or comfort food when needed. Sloppy Joe’s anyone? Yes please and pass the napkins!
Homemade Sloppy Joe Mix
Meaty, Messy and Better Than Your Lunch Lady can make, this Homemade Sloppy Joe Mix recipe will become a staple in your spice cabinet. When you combine some common spices and store this mix in an airtight container, you'll never want to buy those pre-made packets at the store again!
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Minced Onion
- ½ Cup Chili Powder
- ¼ Cup Paprika
- 8 tsp (1/8 Cup + 2 tsp) Garlic Powder
- 8 tsp (1/8 Cup + 2 tsp) Salt
- 8 tsp (1/8 Cup + 2 tsp) Parsley
- ¼ Cup Mustard Powder
- [Note: This recipe has been multiplied x 4 for storing in a jar]
- Add Brown Sugar to Taste when Cooking – (Optional)
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients (except Brown Sugar, this is added when cooking)
- Store in Airtight Container or Mason Jar
- When ready to cook: Add ¼ Cup of Mix per Lb of Ground Beef/Chicken/Turkey (You can always add more seasoning to taste; it's your Sloppy Joe, make it as sloppy as you like!)
Notes
I do not add Brown Sugar to my Homemade Sloppy Joe Mix and instead add Brown Sugar to taste when I make my Sloppy Joes. A good starting point is 1 Tbl of Brown Sugar per Lb of Meat. But play around with that when you're cooking and add as you see fit!
