Today we will be making a Quick & Easy Snack or Appetizer of Homemade Hummus! By following the recipe in the Recipe Card and Video below, you’ll get a Nutritious & Versatile Snack that pairs nicely with a Flatbread, Pita Chips, Crudité or Veggie Tray. In a matter of minutes, you’ll have some Made from Scratch Hummus using Fresh Lemon Juice and just a few other ingredients! So simple, but quite delicious. Homemade Hummus

Homemade Hummus Recipe

Homemade Hummus is a Nutritious & Versatile Snack that pairs nicely with a Flatbread, Pita Chips, Crudité or Veggie Tray!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 (15.5oz Cans) Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans) [Reserve the Liquid from the cans]
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Lemon Juice (@ 1 Lemon)
  • 1/4 Cup Tahini (Traditional, Sesame)
  • 1 tsp Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
  • 3 Tbl Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Add ingredients into a Food Processor and mix until smooth & creamy.
  2. If the Homemade Hummus is too thick, add some of the Reserved Chickpea Liquid to help thin the mixture and pulse until desired consistency (@ 1/3 Cup of the Reserved Liquid usually works well).
  3. Drizzle with Olive Oil as a garnish if desired.
  4. Enjoy with Fresh Veggies, Pita Chips or on wraps as a condiment! (*see Notes below)

Notes

  • Homemade Hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
  • Variations to try:
  1. 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  2. 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  3. 1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  4. Roasted Red Peppers (Puree)
  5. Olive Tapenade


This Homemade Hummus Recipe is easy to adjust & create multiple Varieties!

You can also try adding:

  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • Roasted Red Peppers (Puree)
  • Olive Tapenade
