After preparing a few other ingredients, you will end up with some great Homemade Lemon-Flavored Liqueur you can enjoy or give as a gift!

Lemon Prep Time 20 minutes
Steeping Time (2-4 Weeks) 14 days
Simple Syrup Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 14 days 30 minutes

Ingredients

Lemon Prep

  • 10 Lemons (Cleaned)
  • 1 Bottle (750 mL) Vodka

Simple Syrup Prep

  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar

Instructions

  1. Peel Lemons with a Vegetable Peeler and place peels into a Half Gallon Mason Jar. (*see Notes below)
  2. Pour the Bottle of Vodka over the Lemon Peels in the Mason Jar and tightly close the lid.
  3. Shake the Lemon Peels with the Vodka in the Mason Jar.
  4. Place the Mason Jar onto a baking pan and store in a cool, dry place - shaking the jars daily.
  5. The Lemon Peels & Vodka Mixture will then steep for 2-4 weeks; the longer the time, the stronger the lemon flavor and nice yellow color will result!
  6. Once the Lemon Peels & Vodka Mixture has the look and taste desired, a wonderful lemony yellow liquid will result.
  7. Next prepare a Simple Syrup by combining the Water and Sugar in a Saucepan over Medium-High Heat. Stir well and heat until the Sugar is dissolved.
  8. Pour the prepared Simple Syrup over the Lemon Peels & Vodka Mixture, replace the lid and give the Mason Jar a good shake. This will give us our Limoncello!
  9. Store the Limoncello (with the Peels still in the jar) overnight in a cool dark place.
  10. The Next Day, strain out the Lemon Peels and pour the prepared Limoncello into your desired bottles and store in the Refrigerator.
  11. Serve Chilled for a Bright & Vibrant Lemony sipping drink!

Notes

  • Save the Lemons for using in other Recipes or for the Lemon Juice as needed in the kitchen. Check out a number of Lemon-Flavored Recipes on this site that are a great way to use the fresh lemon juice from these lemons!
  • The Homemade Limoncello will lose its lemon flavor over time; recommended use in 3-6 month for best flavor and up to 1-2 years.
  • Add a Splash of Homemade Limoncello to San Pellegrino (S.Pellegrino) for a Lemony Spritzer or "Homemade Hard Seltzer"

Enjoy this Bright & Vibrant Beverage any time of year!
